What are your past/current experiences working in the field of disabilities, allied health, education, or school?

I worked in my district’s visual impairment department as an administrative assistant. My main responsibility was to translate text to braille and enlarged print materials for the students the VI department serviced. Later, I went to work as a special education teacher in a combination classroom. This class included resource and self-contained students.  Currently, I am a teacher of the visually impaired.

What are your goals for your Interprofessional Preparation experience?

My goal for my Interprofessional Preparation program experience is to get a better look at the overall picture of my student’s lives. I hope to learn about the medical and legal sides of disabilities, rather than just the academic side I see now.

What do you wish to contribute as a future Related Service Provider &/or Special Education Teacher?

I hope that with this program I can better understand the lives of my students as well as their families. In doing so, I hope I can provide a learning environment that can support my students and help them flourish.
