Property Essential to Self-Support (PESS)
SSI - The Social Security Administration (SSA) does not count some resources that you need to be self-supporting when they decide if you are eligible for SSI. For example, SSA doesn't count property such as tools or equipment that you use for work. Or, if you have a trade or business, SSA doesn't count property such as inventory.
