Below is a notice about a study co-sponsored by the Spencer Foundation and Families Helping Families of Greater New Orleans. This notice is provided for your information only. HDC is not responsible for distribution of any prizes awarded for participation in this event.

Join us to…

  • Enhance your knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act ()
  • Develop your advocacy skills with legislators
  • Influence change in the next IDEA reauthorization

Who can participate?

Parents or caregivers with individualized education programs () and students (aged 14-26) with

What will I do?

  • Attend a free 6-hour training focused on and legislative advocacy
  • Participate in a focus group about advocacy in special education
  • Complete surveys to document the effectiveness of the training
  • Be videotaped (for less than three minutes) sharing your concerns about

When and Where?

  • –
  • The training will be at the Eastbank Regional Library
    (4747 Napoleon Ave, Metairie, )

All participants will receive:

  • Two $25 gift cards (a $50 value)
  • Your edited videotaped testimonial with your legislators’ contact information so you can forward your concerns to your legislators
