I was able to work in the field of education throughout high school. In my role as a volunteer at the library, my favorite task was dressing up in spangles and boas and as much pink as I could find to play “Fancy Nancy” while I read aloud. More professionally, I was a substitute teacher for kindergarten and first grade in 2020.

I hope to gain understanding, empathy, and confidence from my experience with Interprofessional Preparation. I want to start my career prepared to work with these children and the other professionals to provide well-coordinated treatment. Gaining an understanding of their role and what services my colleagues provide for each child will help me tailor my services better. If I understand what they do, and how we can work together, then the focus can remain on the client without the distraction of navigating interprofessional relationships.

In my future role, I aim to create a safe space for children to attempt something that might be a challenge for them. I wish to be connected to each professional so I may coordinate the services I provide into harmony with any other services the child needs. I want give my clients the ability to gain confidence and to grow and set themselves up for success, whatever that may look like for that particular child.
