What are your past/current experiences working in the field of disabilities, allied health, education, or school?

During undergrad, I volunteered at FirstLine schools in New Orleans to help teach children about healthy food through cooking meals in the kitchen and maintaining a school garden. I have also interned at Children’s Hospital in the Palliative Care department, where I found my passion for helping children optimize their quality of life. And I have worked and volunteered at a couple of outpatient pediatric clinics and fell in love with being hands on in the development of children.

What are your goals for your Interprofessional Preparation experience?

My goals for my IPP experience are to effectively collaborate with other disciplines and to gain experience with kids in a variety of settings. I want to learn how other professions play a role in child development and how we can work as a team to help children achieve their goals.

What do you wish to contribute as a future Related Service Provider &/or Special Education Teacher?

My future goal as an occupational therapist is to use the skills I’ve learned and knowledge I’ve gained to give my patients equal opportunities to live their life to the fullest and be as independent as possible. I want to work in a variety of pediatric settings such as early intervention, school system, hospitals, and outpatient clinics by promoting growth and development in children. I strive to make a meaningful impact on the lives of people that I meet throughout my career.
