Dr. Rodney Watson, Louisiana Department of Education
Dr. Rodney Watson

 Rodney Watson is currently serving as the Assistant Superintendent for the Office of School and District Assistance with the Louisiana Department of Education. A veteran educator, Mr. Watson has worked for 32 years as a public school teacher, a local education administrator, and state education official for the state of Louisiana. Since 1995, he has worked directly on the development and implementation of the state’s content standards, assessments, and accountability system. His direct experience in working with the state reform system, coupled with responsibilities associated with the management of Title I and Special Education, has allowed Mr. Watson to develop an institutional knowledge that has placed him in the forefront of state and national level school reform. Mr. Watson was selected as one of 23 members to serve on the Negotiated Rule Making Committee for the No Child Left Behind Act of 2002 and is a past president for the National Association of State Title I Directors. Mr. Watson provides consulting and technical expertise in developing comprehensive accountability systems which meet state and federal requirements. He has been successful in blending compensatory systems into comprehensive school
improvement efforts focused on student and school achievement.

Kris Kaase is the Deputy Superintendent for Instructional Programs and Services for the Mississippi Department of Education.  In this capacity, he oversees curriculum, reading, vocational and technical education, special education, the Mississippi Virtual Public School, and the statewide assessment program.
