Leadership and Quality Improvement Program

Goal:               To develop, evaluate, and disseminate leadership, management, and clinical practices resulting in state-of-the-art supports that allow individuals with developmental disabilities to maximize their lifestyle enjoyment and productivity.

 

Intended Impact:                  Improve ability of agencies to provide beneficial supports and lifestyles for persons with disabilities by employing leadership philosophies that focus on valued outcomes

Improve day-to-day management of human service agencies through supervisory strategies based on Outcome Management principles and practices

Promote the prevention and treatment of challenging behavior through application of positive behavioral supports

Improve existing supports and services through applied, problem-solving research and program evaluation

 

Topics/Areas of Expertise:              

Development, evaluation, and implementation of Leadership and Management Training Curriculum

Training/technical assistance for agencies and families on positive behavioral support

Applied research on Outcome Management supervisory practices

Applied research on incorporating person-centered planning principles within Outcome Management

Training/technical assistance on conducting applied research and program evaluation

 

Overview of Selected Activities/Accomplishments:

 

#  Provided training workshops and technical assistance for advocates, psychologists, family members and supervisors on outcome management

#  Published five applied research articles related to improving clinical and management supports

# Provided program evaluation and recommendation of services for human services agencies in five states

# Provided presentations at four state, and one international professional conference   

 

Directions for Future Program Development:

# Promote statewide systems change to incorporate values-based leadership and outcome management principles and practices in human service agencies

#  Expand applied, problem-solving research and program evaluation methodologies within wider variety of support settings

# Person-centered planning outcomes research
