Collaborative
Program Resources
for Adults
Goal:
The mission of RAADNet is to advocate on behalf of
adults aging with disabilities to be optimally integrated, valued assets
in their chosen communities. The Network is committed to supporting the
evolution of services and supports which honor the dignity of individuals
while providing for informed choices, shared responsibilities, and the
management of risks associated with exercising personal freedom. Intended
Impact:
Increased opportunities and successes for adults with disabilities
to age in the place of their choice Increased productivity and meaningfulness in the
lives of adults aging with disabilities Improved health and more healthy living conditions
for aging adults More and more effective self-advocacy by adults aging
with disabilities Improved attitudes and levels of acceptance by
community members for persons aging with disabilities in our communities Increased array and quality of person-centered
services and supports for adults aging with disabilities Topics/Areas

perspectives on status and needs for advancements in services and supports
for persons aging with disabilities Overview
of present services for aging citizens and special needs and challenges of
adults aging with disabilities in Louisiana Information about 12 UAP Training Initiative Projects
in topic of aging plus minor bibliography and small library of references
related to aging and developmental disabilities Knowledge of person-centered values and practices;
behavior analytic principles and practices; understanding of the current DD
and Aging service systems Overview of Selected Activities/Accomplishments: n
Participating agencies (i.e.,
Governor’s Office on Elderly Affairs, Arc of Louisiana, D Council, Office
for Citizens with DD, and Human Development Center) meet quarterly to review
progress, plan activities, and exchange news and views n
Developed and adopted
statements of Mission, Purpose, and Principles of Operation for RAADNet n
Produced an informative flyer
for statewide distribution to announce RAADNet and prompt wider involvement
in planning for expanded and improved services and supports for persons who
are aging with disabilities n
Assisted with planning the
Disabilities Track of the 1997 annual conference of the Southwest Society on
Aging n
Presented to the Southwest
Society on Aging (1) “RAADNet . . .” and (2) “Behavior Analysis:
Interventions and Supports for Services to Persons who are Aging with
Special Needs” n
Submitted grant applications,
participated in grant application submissions, and submitted letters of
intent to apply; no grants awarded to date Directions

Work to achieve infusion of the
values and practices recommended by RAADNet into the annual or state plans
of human services agencies throughout Louisiana n
Develop a “resource center”
to accumulate training materials, host faculty and students for studying
aging and disabilities, and serve as lending library n
Foster faculty and curricula
development so activities of preservice, inservice, continuing education,
and supervised professional practice include recommended practices for
