Participants at this years HDC Institute, Response to Intervention,.will become involved in lively discussions with national experts about Response to Intervention (RtI) and Early Intervening Services (EIS). You can expect to meet and confer with successful implementers of RtI including   Louisiana’s own T.I.E.R.S. Group (Teams Intervening Early to Reach All Students) who have experienced proven increases in  student performance and other indicators of school success.

Autism Internet Course Spring 2009

EDSP 6210—Introducti o n to People with Autism


LA-LIDC (Louisiana Low Incidence Disabilities Consortium) announces a new internet course in Autism offered through the University of New Orleans. Course is delivered using video conferencing technology.

Registration begins:
November 3, 2008

Classes begin:
January 12, 2009

This performance based course explores the complexities of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). It begins with an examination of the controversies surrounding the etiology and diagnosis of ASD. The course also includes a detailed examination of behavioral, social, and language characteristics of ASD. The course assumes best practice requires that collaboration and family involvement guide assessment, program planning, and implementation of evidence-based interventions. This course is the first in a series of two that will focus on ASD. The second
course in the series is an exciting venture utilizing multiple national speakers to prepare you for successful experiences with individuals with ASD.

Upon the successful completion of this course, stipends are available to qualified students to help defray the cost of tuition, books, and incidentals. Three hours of course credit and/or 45 CLUs will be earned upon completion of the course.

New students or students who have missed a semester must go to http://admissions.uno.edu/app.cfm for application information. All current UNO students can register for these classes as they usually do through WEBSTAR.

This course is in conjunction with the Louisiana Low Incidence Disabilities Consortium.
