ELDER SERVICES DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

GOAL
To develop, evaluate, disseminate and advocate for evidence-based practices and policies for adults at or above 60 years of age to
support positive aging experiences through the lifespan.

- Improve policies and regulations to guide state departments in applying evidenced-based practices
- Improve the availability of evidence-based services for elders
- Enhance interagency collaboration among elder-serving agencies
- Raise awareness of current elder service programs available among elders, their families and service providers

- Analyzing federal and state elder public policies
- Researching best practices regarding service delivery for elders
- Legislative monitoring and development of proposed bills
- Training and technical assistance in implementation of evidence-based policies and practices

- Collaborated with many state and local agencies in system development activities
- Participated in collaborative elder services’ activities
- Responded to need for capacity-building in policy and service development for elders
- Analyzed research on adults aging with disabilities
- Developed and disseminated fact sheet on adults aging with disabilities
DIRECTIONS FOR FUTURE PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT |
- Identify and develop appropriate funding streams to build capacity for addressing elder issues
- Assist with developing and sustaining interagency collaboration surrounding elder services
- Conduct research on current national and state elder policies and congruency with person-centered values and practices
- Provide technical assistance in evidence-based elder policy development and implementation
- Provide training and presentations on evidence-based and person-centered elder services
