Major Considerations

As we conduct our activities in support of improved opportunities and outcomes for citizens of Louisiana, we adhere to the following principles:

  • Respect basic ethical standards:
    • Show respect for all others
    • Act to the benefit of others
    • Be just in all you do

  • Develop programs so they are Person-Centered and Outcome-Oriented
  • Implement validated actions and practices so they are Person-Centered and Outcome-Oriented:
    • Research-based or Science-founded
    • Valued by the person
    • Valued by his/her community
    • Valued by society
    • Culturally valid
    • Functionally valid
    • Legally valid

  • Implement actions and practices with attention to:
    • Least restrictive and most appropriate settings and supports
    • Developed in measurable (operational and behavioral) terms
    • Applied at multiple levels (Micro, Meso, Macro, and ChroNo)

That is, "reasonably calculated to achieve benefit"

Strategic Planning and Comprehensive Reporting (NIRS and MTARS) are keys to program development and accountability
